The National Issue and Message Study

2,248 likely votersFielded September 27–28, 2026

The National Issue and Message Study is an annual survey conducted by co/efficient among likely voters across the United States. The study examines the issues shaping the national conversation, how voters understand those issues, and the language they use to describe them. Across 17 issue sets, the research compares competing left- and right-framed messages about the same underlying challenges, revealing how voters can agree on a problem while disagreeing about its causes and solutions.

Presented through an interactive dashboard, the study allows users to explore voter attitudes across issues, messages, political coalitions, and demographic groups. Through dynamic visualizations and detailed crosstab analysis, readers can move beyond topline polling to examine how different segments of the electorate understand the same challenges, respond to competing messages, and arrive at different conclusions.
